Welcome back once again to the Clairizard Game Reviews Nintendogs (+cats) Series! I forgot to add the “plus cats” into the title last week but had to add it this week and you’ll see why shortly. I wanted to lay out some goals for this series before we go any further. In this series I want to:
- Walk 25,000 steps on pedometer walk,
- Win the Disc Competition Nintendogs Cup (the hardest cup) with Millie.
That’s all I have so far. I’m sure as the series goes on, I’ll think of more to add. Alright, now that that’s taken care of, let’s get into chapter three of the Clairizard Game Reviews Nintendogs (+cats) Series!
We’re going to start this chapter out at the Kennel because, if you haven’t guessed it yet, I’m getting a cat! Or, well, I got a cat. There were so many cute cats, it was hard to choose just one. But eventually I found a cat that I knew I was going to love. I took the new cat to introduce her to Millie (my dog, for those of you who are new). Of course, to take care of a cat, you need some supplies. Luckily, Millie and I went to the pet supply shop beforehand and bought cat food and a cat brush. I fed the new cat some cat food and played with her for a little while. I can’t keep calling her “the new cat,” so I suppose it’s time to name her. I researched cat names and eventually landed on one I was happy with. So, everyone say hello to… drumroll please… Puffin! I’m sure you already knew that, though, considering that’s literally the title of this chapter.

I’m sure you guys are eager to hear more about Puffin, but first, it’s time for the pedometer walk! It was very nice outside this week, so Millie and I did a lot of walking. We walked in multiple different places; the park (900 steps), the grocery store (400 steps), and around the neighborhood (1200 steps). It was really fun! This brings the total steps for the series to just over 10,100 steps! That’s only 14,900 steps from the goal! Yes, I know it sounds like a lot, but it really isn’t. For reference, there are about 2,000 steps in a mile. That would mean I have to walk 12 ½ miles throughout the whole series to reach my goal!
There’s not really much you can do with a cat in this game, but one thing cats can do is play with cat toys. So, I took it upon myself to figure out which cat toy is Puffin’s favorite. I bought a bell ball, a soft cube, a bubble blower, and a cat wand. I gave Puffin all of these toys to see which one she likes best. Starting with the Bell Ball, Puffin seemed to really like it. She played with it for a little bit before Millie distracted her. I threw the Soft Cube. Millie grabbed it before Puffin could get it, but then Puffin ran up and knocked it out of Millie’s mouth! It was funny to watch them fighting over it. Next, I tried the bubble blower and blew them some bubbles. Millie loved the bubbles, but Puffin wasn’t that enthusiastic. Puffin really loved the cat wand, which would make sense because she’s a cat. Overall, I think it is a tie between the bell ball and the cat wand.

“Greetings, and welcome to the Disc Competition Pro Cup,” said the announcer’s voice through the microphone. Yay! The disc competition! Woo-hoo! It’s time for Mille to compete in the disc competition. Yeah! Woo-hoo! Go Millie! In all seriousness, this cup was a lot harder than the ones we’ve competed in before. There are sand pits throughout the field that will slow dogs down. It really didn’t help that I haven’t been practicing with Millie for the last few weeks. We really tried our best, and believe me, I would have loved to have said we won first try, but that would be a lie. On our first try, we got twenty-six points, which would have put us in first place in the previous cups, but this is the pro cup, so twenty-six points actually placed us in third. To be clear, there were only three dogs competing. It honestly wasn’t as bad as I was expecting, though. I’m happy to not get zero again.

I tried not to feel too down, though, because this just means we need to do some special training. I bought Millie a pro level disc, hoping that would help. We tried practicing with the new disc in the house, but the disc kept hitting the walls and Puffin kept getting in the way. I decided to take Millie out to the park to practice. We stopped at the park on our next walk, and I must say, it was a game changer. There was so much open space to throw the disc, and Millie would finally focus. The new disc is certainly an adjustment, but I think I’m getting used to it. I finally felt confident enough to give the competition another attempt.

Sadly, I ran out of time for this week, so I guess I’m going to leave you guys on a cliffhanger. If you enjoyed, leave a like and, oh, I don’t know, think about subscribing? I certainly would appreciate it. If you have any ideas for series goals I could add, leave a comment. Thanks for reading and stay tuned for next chapter of this series (the title is way too long) to see if Millie and I can advance past the pro cup!
